Lane Garrison Arrested For Domestic Violence

Garrison says he did NOT hurt his ex, however. According to his attorney, Harland Braun, Garrison went to her Beverly Hills apartment building to dog sit for his acting coach, who happens to live in the same building on the third floor.

As he went to leave, he ran into Ashley in the lobby.

Braun says Garrison told him the two began arguing about the failed relationship, and Ashley started screaming and threw Lane's cell phone against the wall.

Braun claims that Lane then put his hands on Ashley's shoulders, put her in a chair, and then left. Lane says he did not harm Ashley Mattingly at any point.

Garrison, who served prison time for killing a high school student in a car accident a few years back, is days away from ending his parole for manslaughter.

Braun says Ashley knew this and it could be her motivation for getting Lane arrested, since he could biw go back to prison in the manslaughter case.

Lane says he wanted to stay in jail Sunday night so he can speak with detectives as soon as they come in Monday a.m. and clear his name. Stay tuned.

Soccer player defects from Cuba, requests asylum in US

Soccer player defects: A Cuban national soccer player disappeared while his team was playing in an Olympic soccer tournament in Tennessee.

Yosmel De Armas is a Cuban soccer player who has defected in order to seek asylum in the United States. While in Nashville, Tennessee last month for an Olympic qualifying soccer tournament, the Cuban midfielder was absent from his national team's final game against Canada, although he played on Saturday?s 4-0 loss to El Salvador.?

When asked why the player skipped the game, the Cuban national coach said De Armas was sick and remained at the team's hotel. However, when the team left Nashville, the promising soccer player did not accompany his teammates on their return trip to the island nation.

Although US officials refused to comment about the player?s whereabouts, it was reported that De Armas was last seen in Miami.?

"We're preparing an asylum application to file with the Department of Homeland Security," attorney Alex Solomiany said, according to Reuters.?

The Miami-based lawyer, who?described his client as "nervous," said De Armas is "alone here"?and that he was on his way to Miami at the time of the game, contrary to the coach's allegations.

A rising number of Cuban athlete defections are explained by several factors: the continuous financial hardship the populace faces in Cuba, the plethora of defection precedents that make the process look easy, and the luring prospects of a better life, all coalesce to urge young athletes to follow this path.?

"This is another case of a Cuban sportsman trying to get a decent life, to try to take control of his own career," Omar Lopez told Reuters.? Lopez is general director of the Cuban American National Foundation, a Miami-based organization of Cuban exiles who seek political change on the island.

Four years ago, seven members of the Cuban under-23 national soccer team also sought political asylum after competing against its US counterpart in Tampa, Florida.?

"Of course, my heart will be in Cuba with my family, but I want to have the freedom to better my life, to play professional soccer, to be the best I can be, and for that we had to make this sacrifice," Yenier Bermudez told the Miami Herald, according to ESPN.

Since the 2002 CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football) tournament in Los Angeles, a total of 15 Cuban soccer players abandoned their teams and requested political asylum in the United States.

Justin Bieber Mocks Baby Mama Accuser Mariah Yeater via Twitter

Remember that pesky Justin Bieber baby rumor that was everywhere? Well the pop singer has decided to mock the young woman who accused him of fathering her child. Oh yes nothing like Twitter and a teen pop sensation to make a serious matter entertaining. On Saturday Bieber ended an hour of random tweeting with fans by mocking Mariah Yeater, who you all may or may not know as the woman who accused him of being her baby?s daddy. He Tweeted the below message to the accuser: ?Dear mariah yeeter [sic] …we have never met…so from the heart I just wanted to say…” The message also included a YouTube link to Sacha Baron Cohen?s Borat character repeating the words ?You?ll never get this?. You can see that video that I am referring to in below; it is hysterical as I am sure you guessed. Not that I am sure you need any reminding but a few months ago Yeater filed a lawsuit saying Bieber was the father of her child. The ?Baby? singer stood strong and denied that he was the father, he even took a paternity test and Mariah?s case quickly crumbled. Later the lawsuit was dropped when it became [...]

In a modern era where our youthful children are studying their core values from Television, rap songs, Britney Spears, video games, and SpongeBob Squarepants ? it is becoming much more essential than ever before that elementary colleges spend a small part of their week focused on the development of character education abilities. Frankly, I refuse to believe that pop culture can do a much better job of educating and coaching our children than our parents and lecturers. For better or worse, those kiddos sitting down in classrooms across this country are the leaders and tax payers of tomorrow ? and that i would significantly fairly that they didn?t reference ?Bakugan the Fight Brawlers? for his or her core ethics coaching!

But numerous elementary schools don?t have time to spare for character teaching programs due to the elevated pressures and demands of standardized testing. Testing requirements and accountability are essential aspects of making wholesome public college systems, but colleges are having difficulties to help keep up using the new rigorous academic testing requirements. As a direct outcome, character training frequently gets squeezed in the weekly schedule.

Character Education programs That Need Little Time Financial investment
Rather of squeezing character education from the varsity week, colleges must discover creative and innovative methods to squeeze it correct back in! Truthfully, I?d much fairly have our kids build core values from our lecturers and public colleges than from Nickelodeon?s iCarly! Actually, there are lots of character teaching programs easily accessible that need small time financial investment by the school employees ? and these applications do a really nice task of reaching an entire campus.

Among the simple, time-friendly, and extremely efficient ways of reaching a campus with high quality character training programming consists of Venture Knowledge. This plan has been about because 1992 and it focuses on short vignettes which are study every day throughout morning announcements more than the school PA method. The nice thing concerning this character plan is the fact that it only will take a couple of minutes each day to implement and demands no extra instruction from the classroom teachers.

Another great way of inserting character education programming into your college week is by playing brief cartoon radio shows more than the varsity PA method. Used at some point per week throughout morning announcements, teachers aren?t asked to bear the load of preparing additional lessons or having to sacrifice time from their educational schedules. Moreover, character education programs like Achiever Radio allow for a college broad reach with the investment of only a few complete minutes each week. The Achiever Radio program also helps develop weak pupil listening abilities?which is an ability which has been horribly misplaced in this video clip wealthy day and age!

If We Don?t Solution The Character Contact ? Pop Culture Will
Elevated standardized testing and educational accountability are necessary steps for improving our nation?s colleges and shaping this country into an international leader in education. But, we simply cannot permit these elevated measures to come in the expense of creating college students with fantastic ethical and ethical character. And if we fail to solution the call and make time in the college day to build character ? pop tradition will gladly carry on to form these college students for us.

The Engadget Interview: AMD's Sasa Marinkovic

The Engadget Interview: AMD's Sasa Marinkovic

This isn't the easiest time to be an AMD fan. The company's eight-core FX-8150 desktop chip was widely panned on the review circuit, and then NVIDIA's GTX 680 graphics card ran off with Radeon HD's thunder. Even when you look at notebook processors, where AMD has long excelled with its Fusion APUs, the hype wars currently favor Ultrabooks and Ivy Bridge. Affection for the gamers' brand and its ATI back-story may make this stuff uncomfortable, but the predicament is already starting to mess with AMD's balance sheet. Which raises the obvious question: what's to be done?

Sasa Marinkovic, AMD's Head of Desktop and Software Product Marketing, bravely took up the challenge of providing his side of the story -- even after we warned him that we'd try to disrupt his flow with accusatory glances. In the end, we did get him to acknowledge some recent hard knocks, particularly with respect to the FX chips and their (lack of) single-threaded performance. But we also got some insight into the mind of a chap who remains genuinely and abundantly confident about his employer's future. Read on and see for yourself.
